WLC 400: WLC Major Capstone
Since these three classes overlapped in terms of learning. I feel that in this case it would be best to describe how I fulfilled this MLO by each subpoint.
4.1
WLC 300 and JAPN 400 were the main classes that fulfilled MLO 4.1. In these classes, we learned the basics of research at the university level. WCL 300 was the class in which I first learned about inter library loan, world cat, and the other myriad of databases available to us for our research projects. For evidence of this, please look at my background research of my capstone project.
4.2
JAPN 400 was the main class that fulfilled MLO 4.2. In this class, I applied what I had learned from my major pro-seminar (WLC 300) to collect background research to aid in created a relevant, well thought out series of research questions pertaining to a current events in Japan. I used a number of the online databases like JSTOR and Ebsco host to collect my sources.
4.3.
WLC 400 was the main class that fulfilled MLO 4.3. In this course, we drafted a survey based on the background research in which we could conduct a test of whether or not current trends according to the previously gathered research were still correct. Of course, the scale of the research was very small, so results could not be generalized, but served as excellent practice. This was the first time conducting original research and was highly rewarding presenting it to my cohort.
